Minutes of The Supreme Council Meeting

January 31, 2000

Present (online): Grand President Paul Lindner, Grand Vice President Keith Hileman, Executive Secretary Derek Troy, Treasurer Ed Hurst, Editor of The Castle Burt Wagner Central Province Councilor Chris Perez, Eastern Province Coucilor Mike Votaw, Mike Stelzner

 

  1. CALL TO ORDER: Grand President Lindner called the Supreme Council to order at 6:08 PM PST on Tuesday January 31, 2000 on the Internet, in the #SigmaPhiDelta chat-room of the CastleNet Internet Relay Chat network. Four members of the Supreme Council were present, and thus a virtual quorum was present.
  2. EXECUTIVE SECRETARY/TREASURER: Changes to the constitution and statutory code were approved unamiously. Derek will incorporate the changes into the documents. Motion by Paul Lindner to appoint Derek Troy as Executive Secretary, APPROVED. Motion by Paul Lindner to appoint Ed Hurst as Treasurer, APPROVED. Motion by Paul Lindner to appoint Ed Hurst as Information System Manager, APPROVED. Chris Perez nominates Mike Stelzner to be Merchandising/Fundraising Chair, seconded by Derek Troy, APPROVED.
  3. Paul Lindner appoints a committee of Ed Hurst, Keith Hileman, Chris Perez, chaired by Paul Lindner to work on coming up with a new salary schedule for the new officer structure, as called for in the constitution.
  4. SOLICITATION LETTER: Paul Lindner will coordinate with Mike Stelzner this week, to get the letter sent out in March.
  5. INTERNSHIP: Tom Mercer and Alix Minden are awarded the 8 month leadership internships starting on February 1, 2000 through October 1, 2000. Michael Golden will continue his internship through May 2000. Paul Lindner approved paying Mike Golden for three months of service.
  6. EXPANSION: Went to Rose-Hulman on January 14, 2000. Trying to coordinate another trip with Delta and Kappa combined. Keith is going to work on reestablish Michigan State, and has leads at Case Western and Bucknell. Also looking at Penn State and Syracuse. Triangle is working on establishing at USC. Rutgers is moving forward with one interested guy who is working on a second information meeting.
  7. YEAR 2000 JPC: A team of Eta actives are working on preparations for the convention. Chris will coordinate with the Chapter for all monetary commitments and contracts. We are looking at a dinner cruise, tours of Miller and Harley Davidson. Chris will forward all contracts to Paul Lindner. Chris will poll the chapters to determine how many people will be attending convention and will be putting up a web site for the convention.
  8. CHAPTER VISITATIONS: Paul will be visiting Alpha, Theta and Epsilon. Burt is working actively with the Delta Chapter. Mike Votaw will be visiting Chi with Keith Hileman
  9. KAPPA VISIT TO ETA: Keith and Chris straightened out a lot of the miscommunication. Chapter to Chapter visits will be put on the agenda for the convention. Chapters visiting another chapter are guests of that chapter and should act as such.
  10. CASTLE: Castle is way behind. Proof text should be available this coming weekend. Database updates and password requests are addressed quickly.
  11. EFFICIENCY CONTEST: Derek will get the efficiency contest forms ready and send them out. Chris will assist in converting them to PDF files.
  12. MISC: Derek and Mike Votaw approve Delta Chapters request to initiate their pledges. Brother David Olson sent a $100 donation to the fraternity.
  13. OTHER BUSINESS: We need people to run for the province councilor positions at the next convention. Compensation Committee meeting will be held February 7, 2000 at 6:00 PM PST Next meeting is Monday, February 28, 2000 at 6:00 PM PST
