Minutes of The Supreme Council Meeting

January 22, 2001

Present (online): Grand President Paul Lindner, Grand Vice President Keith Hileman, Executive Secretary Derek Troy, Western Province Councilor Kevin Oldknow, Treasurer Ed Hurst, Central Province Counselor Chris Guam, Merchandising Chairman Mike Stelzner, Edmund Gin

CALL TO ORDER: Grand President Lindner called the Supreme Council to order at 6:23 PM PST on January 22, 2001 on the Internet, in the #Sigphi chat-room of the DalNet Internet Relay Chat network. Five members of the Supreme Council were present, and thus a virtual quorum was present.

  1. NATIONAL DIRECTOR POSITION: Application has not been sent out to the fraternity yet. Ed needs to make a clear link to the application on the web page. The Star references the web page for the complete application. Meeting will be first weekend of March in Chicago. Paul will send out the date confirmation by Sunday.
  2. THE STAR: It is complete, need to followup with the printer to get a status.
  3. INTERNSHIP: Application being sent out again by email and by snail mail to all chapters. The new deadline will be February 24. We will vote on them at the March 3rd meeting.
  4. ACCIDENT: Keith Hileman was involved in an accident while on a fraternity expansion trip. Credit card might be covering the damages. Nobody was hurt.
  5. SOLICITATION LETTER: Paul is planning on sending out a solicitation letter at the end of March. It will also plug the new ND position.
  6. CHAPTER VISIT SCHEDULE: Paul will visit Chi (Feb), Phi(April), Theta(March) and Delta(Feb) this semester, Phi is celebration 10 years in May. Mike will visit Psi and Omega in February.
  7. CONVENTIONS: We will discuss the convention schedule and budget at the March 3rd SC meeting. Convention letters will have to be sent shortly after this meeting.
  8. NATIONAL OFFICE RECRUITMENT: There is a big push in the Star for new National Officers. Convention will be on July 19-21. Province counselors form the committee with Mike as the chairman. All SC positions are up for election, except Exec Sec which is appointed.
  9. MEMBERSHIP CARDS: Printer can print them for $1.50 per card. Do we still need to have membership cards. Some discussion on if they are necessary and if we want to change them. We will be printing them for the time being and will look at options.
  10. OTHER: Keith Hileman got engaged to his Girlfriend and will be getting married on October 6, 2001. Congratulations Keith
